1.Project Background and Operating Conditions

Recently, our company successfully customized, manufactured, and delivered a batch of high-performance non-metallic compensators for a well-known coal-fired power plant in Indonesia. Located in a tropical region, the plant experiences year-round high temperatures and humidity. Moreover, due to its large installed capacity, the boiler air supply system and Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) ductwork operate continuously under extreme conditions characterized by a mix of high moisture, high temperatures, and highly acidic flue gas.

During operation, the ductwork undergoes severe thermal expansion and contraction, resulting in significant displacement accompanied by heavy mechanical vibration. Consequently, the client urgently needed to source a batch of moisture-resistant, anti-corrosive fabric expansion joints with large displacement absorption capacities to replace their damaged equipment.

 

2.Technical Challenges and Selection Solutions

To address the specific "high humidity + acid corrosion" pain points of the Indonesian power plant, our engineering team conducted rigorous stress and strain analysis on the air and flue gas ductwork, customizing a highly efficient high-temperature piping compensator solution:

2.1Multi-Layer Composite Belting Structure: The outer layer features high-weatherability silicone-coated fabric, while the inner lining consists of high-density thermal insulation blankets. The core corrosion-resistant layer utilizes a thick PTFE (Teflon) membrane, ensuring stable long-term operation under flue gas temperatures ranging from 250°C to 800°C.

2.2Reinforced Anti-Acid and Condensation Design: The tail end of the FGD ductwork in coal-fired power plants is highly prone to condensation, forming concentrated sulfuric acid. To tackle this, we added an internal stainless steel flow liner (sleeve) to the FGD expansion joints. This design effectively prevents acidic condensate from directly flushing the fabric belt, eliminating acid penetration and fabric degradation.

2.3Multi-Axial Displacement and Vibration Isolation: Leveraging the inherent flexibility of non-metallic materials, these joints simultaneously absorb axial, lateral, and angular displacements within a very short installation length. This effectively dampens fan vibrations and reduces system noise.

 

3.Quality Control and Export Packaging Standards

3.3Moisture-Proof Maritime Packaging: Considering the maritime transit to Indonesia and the local rainy climate, the entire batch underwent heavy-duty anti-rust and moisture-proof treatments, securely packed in standard seaworthy wooden cases.
